Reporting to the Coordinator for Projects & Maintenance Engineering, the incumbent will be responsible for providing technical guidance to ensure designs, equipment, and installations meet all functional, legal, and safety requirements. The position will also act as a technical resource to maintenance tradespersons as required for various maintenance tasks. They must be capable of performing in field work to gather the information required to successfully complete the projects and various improvement initiatives they are assigned. The successful candidate will assist the operation with equipment issues related to safety and reliability by evaluating installations and using root cause failure analysis.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas: conveyors, ore handling equipment such as chutes, feeders, hoisting and ore passes, pumping, process water distribution, HVAC systems and hydraulic systems. Experience in various Condition Based Monitoring would be considered an asset.
Additional accountabilities include:
Work with all supervisors to ensure maximum performance of plant systems.
Identify, recommend and/or implement changes designed to improve procedures, equipment performance, working conditions and product quality to maximize safety and efficiency.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering; registered or soon to be registered as an EIT with Professional Engineers Ontario.
Must be proficient with AutoCAD, MS Word, and Excel. Knowledge and/or experience with SolidWorks and CMMS applications would be considered an asset.
Experience in the mining industry and various Condition Based Monitoring techniques.
Critical skills include, independence, ingenuity, creativity, leadership, excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts (Kidd Operations reserves the right to modify working schedules as necessary, in accordance with applicable notice requirements and labor regulations.)
