Manulife Bank Continuous Delivery team is seeking a highly motivated Release Train Engineer (RTE). As a Release Train Manager within the Bank Value-Stream, you will work closely with our delivery teams, Architects and Business Owners to help deliver products, services and capabilities to our customers and advisors. This is a fast-paced, changing environment where every day brings something new, and innovative ideas are encouraged to help our customers reach their financial dreams and aspirations. Your contributions will help evolve the customers and advisor experience through simplified and intuitive design; putting the client\xe2\x80\x99s needs first by providing the right tools and solutions to facilitate a positive digital experience.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Business and technology partners, Portfolio stakeholders and teams to supervise, track and provide oversight on the initiatives.

Lead and facilitate all the Agile Release Train (ART) events such as Pre-PI, PI Planning, ART sync, Scrum of scrums, Inspect & Adapt etc.

Aim for results and assist teams to deliver on commitments.

Responsible for communication and information flow between business and technology teams - Publish Program Increment Brief/Debrief communications that outline the business value, objectives and results achieved by the train.

Maintain constant awareness of initiatives; keep the product group focused on short- and long-term achievements.

Responsible for ensuring new work is appropriately sized, prioritized, and added to the ART backlog for prioritization and estimating.

Assist in decision making by facilitating feature estimations by teams and publish for planning, visibility, and transparency.

Enable ART\xe2\x80\x99s collaborator communications, support the portfolio team, and provide visibility on major risks and impediments.

Help facilitate priority and trade-off discussions between challenging business needs and capacity constraints.

Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs).

Help handle risks and dependencies and appropriately call out and supervise impediments, scope, prioritization, and delivery status. Act as a single point contact for all the reporting needs of the delivery organization (includes resource and budget tracking)

Encourage collaboration between teams and Solution Architects

Work with Product Management, Product Owners, and other collaborators to help ensure strategy and execution alignment.

Help drive the Lean User Experience (UX) innovation cycle.

Help coordinate releases and plan interim landmarks for the teams to deliver the solution.

Lead, raise, and drive resolution of the train impediments, risks, and dependencies with collaborators.

Enable and align release train to the customer journey and outcomes / OKRs.

Enables continuous improvement in the delivery and flow of value across ART(s) focused on predictability, productivity, quality, and engagement by making use of different tools (Program Kanban etc.).

Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline.

Coach Leaders and Teams (along with Scrum Masters) in Lean-Agile practices and approaches.

Develop Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices.

Responsible for the effectiveness of the train\xe2\x80\x99s Scrum Masters.

Helps identify and on-board the appropriate blend of resources to meet the program needs and address critical bottlenecks.

Works with Manulife collaborators and vendor teams to define and handle the scope, strategy, requirements, and implementation of deliverables in accordance with service agreements.

May interact with external industry participants, and regulatory agencies.

Supervise, report, and help implement emerging industry trends and standard methodologies which can increase business agility in the enterprise.

Qualifications:

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in either business, technology, engineering, and/or relevant experience commensurate to the role

8 + years of overall experience in IT delivering Agile projects, 2 + years of experience as an RTE.

Certifications in SAFe (RTE) required, other Agile (CSM), and CSP certification an asset.

Experience working in the software development sector on large scale deployment projects.

Requires in-depth expertise and knowledge of Agile standard processes and techniques to propose and implement Agile delivery.

Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in constantly evolving environments or uncertain conditions.

Demonstrates willingness to adapt to different and new ways of doing things.

Takes ownership for the results and actively participates in the future direction of the organization.

Ability to work harmoniously on a team, and to establish and maintain effective business relationships.

Solid experience and knowledge using Jira as a way for multiple teams to organize their work.

Able to combine knowledge of subject area, past experiences, and leading market trends to propose right approaches to the teams.

Deep technical and eye for business, as well as detailed orientation to proactively intercept problems.

Knowledge of tracking, interpreting, and correcting metrics, impeccable leadership and management skills.

Good verbal and written communication; able to efficiently articulate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes.

Good organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to lead through creative abrasion.

Some experience working with external development vendors preferred.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location Toronto, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between $89,950.00 CAD - $167,050.00 CAD
