Position Summary

:

The Residential Skills Development Program requires a Rehabilitation Counsellor, Class 2 Full-Time, to provide instrumental skill development and support services to individuals aged 16 or older who have a serious mental illness including individuals with a dual diagnoses or concurrent disorder. Service will be provided to individuals who reside in Residential Care Facilities (RCFs) and to individuals who attend the Evening Social Recreation Rehabilitation Program. Services will be provided within a framework of a client-centered rehabilitation model. The Rehabilitation Counsellor, Class 2 will work collaboratively with RCF staff and other service providers in developing, implementing, and facilitating support services for clients served. The Rehabilitation Counsellor Class 2 will perform a continuum of functions, including building relationships with designates and operators of RCFs, developing monthly activity calendars, planning and implementing social/recreation programs, client and systems advocacy, symptom management, life skills teaching, supportive counselling, family support, and crisis support. The Rehabilitation Counsellor, Class 2 hours of work includes one evening shift per week.

Qualifications

:

Candidates must possess a college diploma/university degree in social service worker/social work with experience in the mental health field and/or addictions and housing. Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration in a professional college or association. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for use in this position. The ability to offer French-Language services is an asset.

Hours of Work

: Four days per week: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and one day per week: 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm
