Job Summary

The Regulatory Analyst\xe2\x80\x99s primary role is to independently coordinate and execute projects as assigned by the Manager, Regulatory Affairs. This involves all aspects of regulatory compliance, registration compliance and label approval. S/he will track and communicate regulatory policy and provincial legislative changes affecting Scotts products. S/he will provide technical support for provincial and federal issues for consumer lawn and garden products, develop internal processes and procedures to efficiently accomplish high customer service levels and ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations. S/he will also interact with provincial and local control officials and industry counterparts to represent the Company\xe2\x80\x99s interests and minimize the impact of new/changing legislation to the business. This role will also function as back-up to other Analysts and will assume their responsibilities whenever they are absent from work.

Key Work Performed

Participates in team meetings and supports new product launches or product changes.

Prepares and submits product applications and/or registrations with minimal oversight.

Reviews and approves labels and formulas in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responds to requests and other correspondence from regulatory agencies with minimal oversight.

Develops regulatory strategies intended to support execution of the business plan with minimal oversight

Keeps current on regulatory requirements through self study/attendance at conferences/training seminars

Interacts and negotiates with appropriate regulatory authorities on registrations and issues relevant to the business with minimal oversight.

Monitors government regulatory activities and represents Scotts at meetings and conferences with appropriate external organizations

Job Specifications (Minimum Requirements)

Skill Factors (education, experience, communication, technical, etc.)

Bachelor of Science Degree in relevant science or technical discipline.

Greater than three years Regulatory experience or related field (related disciplines may include environmental science, product development, toxicology, plant science, etc.)

Solid knowledge of provincial and/or federal government regulations.

Solid knowledge of time/project management principles.

Strong oral and written communication skills as well as presentation abilities.

Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.

Excellent interpersonal skills with keen ability to adapt and relate to various personalities.

Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google applications

SAP Experience is an asset

Knowledge of French language is an asset

Working Conditions

Works the standard schedule of 37.5 hours per week; however, job requirements will include additional and/or extended work time as the business dictates.

Overnight travel required up to two days per month.

Day travel required up to two days per month.
