Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Engineering Services, this position will lead the long-term direction and strategic orientation of the division. First and foremost, this role is about Leadership, Communication and Collaboration. This position is a collaborative partner with internal & external stakeholders, a mentor to their technical team and a leader who can demonstrate and inspire our workplace culture and values. Demonstrating a visible and positive leadership example, and making recommendations to support continuous improvement efforts, you will position the division and branch at the leading edge of project management.

Responsibilities:

Management of the design and construction of municipal infrastructure Liaise with various internal and partner organizations to provide technical support, technical resources and technical information to determine the delivery solutions that best meet the community needs and organizational goals Liaise with internal/external stakeholders including but not limited to engineering consultants, lawyers, regulatory agencies, elected officials and staff Provide professional engineering advice Prepare and present reports to Committee and Council Responsible for selection and training of staff Work collaboratively with other leaders across the organization in the review and implementation of strategic organizational projects and programs

Requirements:

Demonstrated knowledge and skills generally associated with the completion of a four (4) year Bachelor of Engineering Degree from a recognized university, and ten (10) years of relevant engineering experience in all aspects of Infrastructure Project Delivery; at least five (5) of which are in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a municipal environment Must be registered as a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario Skilled in effective project/program management techniques. A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation with Project Management Institute (PMI) is a definite asset Leadership skills acquired through considerable experience leading and motivating staff Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, stakeholders and the general public including preparation of reports and presentations Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and public relations skills Excellent reasoning, administrative, research and analytical skills Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships Ability to provide own transportation for travel between work locations as required Support and demonstrate the City of Oshawa core values of Authenticity, Courage, and Trust Other duties as assigned
