Reporting to the Project and Energy Manager, the position works with internal and external stakeholders to optimize the use of energy and water in City owned facilities, thereby reducing GHG emissions as well as the City\'s utilities costs. This position is also responsible for the overall coordination and management of all programs and projects related to Energy Management Services, and projects as assigned. Responsibilities
  • Tracking and analyzing the use of utilities in City facilities;
  • Coordinating energy audits to find areas of possible improvement and savings in utilities;
  • Providing training and re-commissioning to support staff in city facilities to optimize the use of utilities and promote energy conservation;
  • Supporting capital improvements and budgeting processes along with managing delivery of related projects;
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining the Corporate Facilities Energy Management Plan;
  • Partnering with various utility companies to research, implement and monitor energy optimization in City facilities;
  • Leading and coordinate the project management function for construction, rehabilitation, capital maintenance, building upgrades and building renovations/alterations projects;
  • Managing General Contractors, Contractors and Sub-trades through regular performance/site meetings and assisting with effective use of consultants;
  • Managing project/contract administration, providing project management services and liaising with stakeholders to define project scope, develop project cost estimates, and prepare and schedule projects; and
  • Reporting to external agencies as required.

Requirements Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills generally associated with the completion of a Technical Diploma (3 years) in Engineering or Architecture along with five (5) years of relevant experience with focus in project management, mechanical or electrical engineering, and energy management.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designations are considered assets as well as technical training in building sciences.
  • Knowledge of energy conservation strategies and methods, measurements, calculations, best practices. Ability to provide simple payback analysis for energy improvements.
  • Knowledge of the specifications that govern the installation and operation of mechanical/electrical equipment, such as, but not limited to: ASHRAE and the Ontario Building Code.
  • Established skills in Microsoft Office and experience using relevant software applications, such as RETScreen.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and deal effectively with staff, the public, and service providers.
  • Good organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work on own initiative and ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide own transportation between worksites as required.
