Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is an 84-bed hospital located in Collingwood, Ontario (approximately 90 minutes north of Toronto) that serves more than 74,000 permanent residents and 3.5 Million annual visitors to the communities of Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Clearview and the Blue Mountains. CGMH is an acute care hospital providing emergency care, diagnostic services including lab, imaging and cardio respiratory therapy, as well as two inpatient units (medicine and surgery). In addition, CGMH also provides care in specialty areas including obstetrics, orthopaedics, intensive care and surgery. The Hospital also provides out patient care including dialysis and a wide range of clinics including mental health and rehabilitation services. The Opportunity:
Registration is the first point of contact for patients and clients and is thus responsible for providing exceptional customer service from the outset of the patient experience. Responsibilities include: reception duties, registration of patients & confirmation of demographic data, patient admission and bed allocation, data quality, facilitation of payment, wayfinding, and non-clinical patient assistance (responding to general inquiries, directing patients and visitors to the most appropriate clinical team member, aiding patients to obtain services). The team plays a vital role in monitoring and responding to alarms, announcing codes via overhead paging system, and following established hospital code protocols.
Qualifications:
OSSD or equivalent
Previous clerical experience in the health care field
Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
Medical Office Administration course an asset
Knowledge of Meditech computer system an asset
Proficient computer skills and typing
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Excellent customer service demeanour
Ability to accurately perform the duties of the role with a focused attention to detail
Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Including, but not inclusive:
Registers patients using the Meditech computer system; obtaining and capturing all relevant patient information and entering data accurately into the electronic chart in a timely manner
Acquires required information and payment method for visits inclusive of OHIP, WSIB, and direct payment method for uninsured patients
Screens patients for necessary IPAC and Falls Prevention queries
Contact MOH regarding Health Card Numbers as required and follow documented procedure
Ensure all information is obtained from patients arriving by ambulance to create an accurate emergency record
Generate patient labels and charts for departments as requested
Apply patient registered visit armband ensuring two factor identification through the patient's hospital visit
Provides direction/or information regarding the hospital to all patients/visitors/other service providers as required
Manages the separation and distribution of the Emergency and Ambulance records with required patient and account information captured
Perform cashier function to manage bill payment amounts, collection of ODSP submissions, uninsured prepayment authorizations and issue receipts to patients
Operates switchboard after hours and as requested

Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work weekdays and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.
Wage:
$30.757 - $31.144 per hour
