Job Description


Join the Royal Ontario Museum team this summer as a Registration Assistant and play a key role in preserving Ontario\'s cultural heritage. As a detail-oriented individual with a passion for art, culture, and nature, you\'ll assist with processing gifts to the ROM collection, ensuring their accurate and timely registration.

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

Contract: (May 15, 2023 \xe2\x80\x93 September 4, 2023)

This is a paid internship.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with loans and gifts to the ROM collection, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Work closely with the Registration team to create and maintain accurate records in the collections database.
  • Provide support to the Registration team, including responding to inquiries and conducting research on objects in the collection.
  • Follow established protocols and procedures for handling and processing objects to ensure the safety and security of the collections.
  • Other duties as required
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in museum studies, art history, anthropology, or a related field.
  • Passionate about preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands.
  • Keen eye for detail, with exceptional documentation skills.
  • Comfortable working with delicate materials and handling collections objects.
  • While familiarity with collections management databases is preferred, a willingness to learn is more important.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Enthusiastic about taking on new challenges and taking pride in your work.
