About the Role
==================


Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, Registration and Financial Aid, this position is responsible for providing support to the operations of the Registration and Financial Aid area. This includes ensuring processes are running smoothly and efficiently, and assisting in the facilitation of superior client service. This position assists in the administration of processes and procedures within the area of Registration and Financial Aid, including but not limited to emergency bursaries, Foundational Learning Supports, student loans, special registrations and more. This requires above average communication skills, both written and verbal. The incumbent is also responsible for registration and financial aid system setup and maintenance as required for each semester, and in collaboration with the Assistant Registrar they will review, enhance and implement business processes.

Responsibilities

• Utilize multiple software systems to investigate student and department inquiries and ensure that accurate responses are provided.
• Exercise independent judgment with respect to student and department inquiries as well as when an inquiry must be escalated to the Assistant Registrar.
• Review student loan exceptions and memo balances which may require organizing and delegating work to Student Service Associates with approval from the Assistant Registrar.
• Navigate the Alberta Student Aid system as needed to access student loan information and troubleshoot issues.
• Work with the Assistant Registrar in managing the Foundational Learning Assistance Program funding (formally Alberta Works Funding)
• Support the Assistant Registrar in the process for Emergency Bursaries including record-keeping and providing follow up to students
• Assist the Assistant Registrar in calculating the cost (tuition and fees) for student loan funding as required by funding partners, including entry in PAPRS.
• Coordinate key registrations tasks including calculating critical dates, special registrations, waitlisting, and prerequisites.
• Complete system set-up for registration in collaboration with the Systems Team and other departments within the Office of the Registrar
• Maintain the timeline for the Registration and Financial Aid Associate role and create and maintain the documentation for processes and procedures.
• Support front line positions during peak registration/fee periods, when operationally required and to maintain a sound knowledge base of the tasks performed by the Student Service Associates. This includes in-person service, operating the help line, monitoring emails and other duties as assigned.
• Work closely with the Assistant Registrar and additional colleagues as required to ensure that systems are functioning efficiently and effectively
• Support the training of new staff members, specifically with regard to Registration and Financial Aid processes.






Qualifications
------------------


• Three or four year bachelor degree or equivalent
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in a post-secondary environment, with preferably, a minimum of 1 years working directly with registration and/or financial aid. Experience required within a post-secondary institution, preferably in the area of financial aid
• Experience in past positions showing a high aptitude for learning technical and detailed work.
• Well versed in Microsoft Office and Google products. Experience with Banner student information system would be an asset
• Complex problem-solving skills, reviewing issues form different points of view to ensure that all variables and potential options have been identified
• Familiarity with the different Provincial funding portals and NSLSC systems would be an asset
• Excellent communication skills, sensitivity in working with diverse populations, and demonstrated ability to work as a team member
• Responsible, results-oriented, and motivated
• Required to maintain a dynamic approach to confidential conversation that may be sensitive in nature. This included the utilization of empathy, professionalism and tact






Salary: $55, 982 - $70,841 per annum
