Tilbury Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician and a well organized Veterinary Office Assistant to join our team. In this role, each candidate will play a vital part in providing high-quality care to our patients and support to our veterinary staff. Your expertise will contribute to the overall health and well-being of animals, ensuring they receive the best possible treatment in a nurturing environment and a smooth running office and clinic overall.
Responsibilities for Veterinary Technicians
Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures
Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis
Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed
Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any changes to the veterinarian
Maintain accurate medical records for each patient
Prepare animals for surgery and assist in post-operative care
Educate pet owners on proper animal care and health practices
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including equipment sterilization
Qualifications and Experience
Completion of a two- or three-year Animal Health Technology/Veterinary Technology college program from a CVMA or OAVT-accredited institution
Registration with provincial animal health technologists' or veterinary technicians' association
Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role is preferred
Laboratory experience is highly desirable, with skills in performing diagnostic tests
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing exceptional care
Responsibilities for Veterinary Office Assistant
Greet clients, answer phones, schedule appointments, and maintain accurate patient records
Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and procedures, including handling animals
Sterilize equipment, maintain cleanliness and safety in treatment areas and throughout the clinic
Process billing, payments, and manage inventory and other administrative tasks
Provide support across nursing care, surgery preparation, and pharmacy duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; training or coursework in veterinary assisting or animal science a plus
Previous experience in a veterinary office, clinic, or shelter preferred
Strong communication and teamwork skills; customer service experience a plus
Proficiency with computers and scheduling systems
Ability to handle animals with compassion and care
