POSITION: Registered Respiratory Therapist
UNIT: Respiratory Therapy
STATUS: Regular Part Time
SALARY: $38.35 - $53.28
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The RRT provides respiratory therapy services 24/7 to patients in the Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Operating Rooms, PACU, In-Patient Units, Complex Continuing Care and when needed elsewhere in the Hospital.
The critical role of the RRT at STEGH will assist with airway management, respond to cardiac and respiratory arrests, traumas, attend hospital transports, administer aerosolized medications, act as a resource for the multi-disciplinary healthcare team, perform bedside tests such as spirometry, oxygen saturations, blood gas analysis, administering oxygen and other medical gas therapies, in addition to other duties.
HOURS:
Must be available for all 11.25 and 7.5 hour tours applicable to the department/unit, and other tours as assigned by the hospital, 24 hour rotation, seven (7) days per week. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to meet the non-availability standards listed in the Collective Agreement and be available for short notice relief coverage.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Post-secondary diploma/degree in Respiratory Therapy required.
• Current registration and in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
• Preference will be given to those with a minimum of two (2) years acute care experience with neonate, adults, and chronic conditions
• Current BCLS Certification required
• Current NRP Certification required
• Current ACLS Certification required
• Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of mechanical ventilation
• Proven ability to work independently, demonstrating a high level of initiative
• Ability to exercise good judgment and application of practical and theoretical knowledge
• Basic computer skills with the ability to operate Microsoft Office, Power Chart, etc.
• Strong interpersonal verbal and non-verbal communication skills
• Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
• Evidence of ongoing commitment to continuing education
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
• Excellent attendance record as per the STEGH Attendance at Work Policy
