Role Overview



We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced

Registered Psychologist

specializing in sports and performance psychology to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in supporting athletes, coaches and teams--covering performance enhancement, mental resilience, injury recovery, transition phases and wellbeing across competitive levels. You will lead our sport psychology services, collaborate with allied professionals (strength & conditioning, physiotherapists, SLP/OT, coaches), deliver individual and team-based interventions, assessments and feedback, and expand our service offering in this domain.

Key Responsibilities



Deliver individual consultations and interventions for athletes, performers and teams to optimise mental performance, resilience, focus and psychological wellbeing. Conduct performance-psychology assessments (mental skills inventories, readiness for competition, stress reactivity, team dynamics) and integrate findings into actionable plans. Provide workshops, seminars and training sessions for coaches, sport-staff, parents and teams (e.g., goal-setting, imagery, pre-performance routines, transition management, injury rehabilitation mental support). Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, strength/conditioning coaches, dietitians and rehabilitation staff to integrate mental-performance care into broader performance plans. Write clear, high-quality reports and feedback summaries for clients, coaches, external stakeholders (e.g., sport organisations, schools, clubs). Maintain client documentation and practice in compliance with regulatory and ethical standards (e.g., College of Alberta Psychologists). Stay current on research, evidence-based best practices in sport & performance psychology, including mental health in athletes, and drive innovation within the CPC Clinics sport psychology stream. Support business development: marketing of sport psychology services, liaising with sport organisations/clubs and championing CPC's brand in the performance-psychology space.

Qualifications & Credentials



Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology (Clinical, Counselling or Sport/Exercise Psychology) from an accredited institution. Ontario Psychological Association+3Indeed+3Job Bank+3 Registered and in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) (or equivalent professional regulator in Alberta). Job Bank Demonstrated advanced expertise in sport and performance psychology: training or certification in applied sport psychology (e.g., Certified Mental Performance Consultant [CMPC] designation or equivalent). cspa+1 Significant experience working with athletes and/or performance-oriented populations (youth, amateur, collegiate, elite) on performance enhancement, mental skills training, team dynamics and sport-related wellbeing. Strong skills in assessment, intervention, consultation, feedback and report writing specifically in the sport psychology/performance domain. Excellent communication, collaboration and facilitation skills--comfortable working with coaches, sport staff, parents, teams and allied-health professionals. Commitment to a values-driven, inclusive and high-performance culture--able to apply both performance psychology principles and mental-health/clinical awareness (many athletes also present mental-health concerns). Ability to work in a hybrid environment: clinic-based, remote virtual sessions and field/club contexts (on-site with teams as required). Availability to accommodate flexible scheduling including early/late sessions to align with athlete schedules (before/after training, competition windows).

Preferred/Asset Skills



Previous experience in sport organisations, athletic clubs, teams or high-performance contexts. Experience in injury-rehabilitation psychology, athlete transition (e.g., retirement, career change), and supporting mental-health within sport settings. Familiarity with Sport Canada, provincial sport organisations or NSO/PSO environments. Business development or service growth experience in private practice or clinic-based sport psychology stream. Training in multicultural, equity-focused practice and experience working with diverse populations (including Indigenous athletes, international teams, para-sport).
