In accordance with the , this 0.5 FTE position has a pro-rated annual salary range of $35,467.50 to $58,892.50. This position is not eligible for benefits.
This position has an initial appointment of 1 year plus 1 day and is a maternity leave coverage.
Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus, Edmonton.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Academic Programs and Student Services, the Registered Psychologist is responsible for providing effective and efficient professional psychological services to University of Alberta, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical undergraduate and graduate students.
Duties
The main duty of the Registered Psychologist is to deliver counseling to learners who are experiencing personal adjustment and/or psychological problems that require professional attention.
Other duties include:

• Conducts consultative training to University faculty and staff on psychological issues, presents workshops and in-services to staff and students, and offers critical incident debriefs to those affected by distressing events which may take place.
• Develops and implements psychologically based research, assists in strategic planning and other initiatives for the Student Services Office, as well as participates and collaborates with other services on campus and off campus in order to facilitate the care and treatment of learners.
• Collaborates with the Office of Advocacy and Wellbeing to provide additional support to Undergraduate Medical Education students in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FoMD) as necessary and in alignment with the Memorandum of Understanding between FoMD and FoPPS.
• Attend regular meetings with OAW Psychologists and Clinical Social Workers to case reviews, student trends, policies and procedures, and relevant information to student wellness.
• Schedule will have late afternoon/evening hours to be worked out with the successful applicant to accommodate students' schedules outside their time in class/clinical.

Minimum Qualifications

• Registered Psychologist and in good standing with the College of Alberta psychologists (CAP), and the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) (Registration with CAP is required to call oneself a Registered Psychologist, and to work at the UofA as a Registered Psychologist).
• Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology preferred, plus five years of professional counseling experience working with a diversity of mental health challenges and populations; including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, and adjustment-related issues.
• Familiarity and adherence to the Health Professions Act, the Standards of Practice, the Canadian Code of Ethics, and the Professional Guidelines for Psychologists. Knowledge of the Policies and Procedures manual regarding such things as service limits and the Consultation/Intervention Protocol.
• Knowledge of counseling theory, developmental psychology, social psychology, research design, statistics, personality theory, psychometric testing, ethics, career counseling, group counseling, and cross-cultural counseling.
• Ability to meet and consult as a member of a team of professionals about clients of particular concern or challenge
• Ability to both establish rapport with a wide variety of clients and create a process of change that will enhance the wellbeing of learners who access the service, and thus enhance their success in university.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Computing skills, with knowledge of, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google Docs, Doxy.me.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the University of Alberta and the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and its policies and procedures, community resources, and the ability to refer clients to those resources as required.
• Knowledge and familiarity with the PharmD and Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Graduate program, as well as its policies and procedures.
• Knowledge and familiarity with relevant organizations such as Physician & Family Support Program, Alberta Medical Association, and the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
• Awareness of national mental health initiatives and programs in addressing medical learner distress and burnout.
• Ability to perform quantitative and qualitative research and carry out program evaluations.
