Your Opportunity:
We are looking to add a team of experienced RN/RPN professionals to our newly opened Psychiatric Emergency Department in the central zone at the Red Deer Regional Hospital is looking for individuals passionate about supporting clients and their families through moderate to severe addictions and mental health treatment streams. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support our clients and their families through the path of care continuum. They will be responsible for daily care to our patients, liaising with the families and medical team, and being a part of the overall treatment team. As a RN/RPN, you will provide mentorship and leadership within the team environment based on your scope of practice and skill set. An ability to create strong relationships with the youth, families, and our team are a critical asset to this position. You have strong assessment skills, ability to use critical thinking, flexibility, and ability to work in a high paced and acute environment. Open to RPN/RN candidates seeking casual employment who have the ability to pick up shifts at straight time. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care, while reflecting shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Psychiatric Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
