Your Opportunity:
There is an exciting opportunity to join our Child & Adolescent Addiction and Mental Health Unit. We are looking to add a team of experienced registered nurse/registered practical nurse professionals to support the stabilization of children and youth in the central zone at the Red Deer Protective Safe House. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support our young clients and their families through the path of the care continuum. They will be responsible for the daily care of our patients, liaising with the families and medical team, and being a part of the overall treatment team. Red Deer has an overarching Children's Team focus, supporting all other programs in the portfolio as needed. You understand the complex relationships between the youth's physical, emotional, mental, developmental, and spiritual health. You will be patient-centered and family-centred in your care practices, following AHS Values and Policies. As a RN/RPN, you will provide mentorship and leadership within the team environment based on your scope of practice and skill set. An ability to create strong relationships with the youth, families, and our team is a critical asset to this position. You have strong assessment skills, the ability to use critical thinking and flexibility and work in a high-paced and acute environment. Description:
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
An ability to work independently and as part of a team as necessary. Critical thinking skills. Experience with the child, family, and youth population. Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of experience working with the child and adolescent population, including using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition. Interest in program development and a growth mindset are considered assets.
