Your Opportunity:
In your role you will report directly to the Manager, VODP and will provide a broad range of services primarily focused on supporting clients. Working as part of an inter-disciplinary team you will practice from a harm reduction, recovery-based philosophy. You will act as an extension of the physician, provide direct patient care through virtual technology platforms. You will support clients with the initiation and ongoing treatment of Suboxone or Methadone and have a good understanding of same. Perform rapid nursing assessments and screening to ensure safety and mitigate risks associated with medication management. Prepare prescription renewals and record significant and historical data. Maintain precise electronic records on individual clients' files. Involved in case management activities for clients such as follow up, treatment, counselling, and referrals. Assist physicians with virtual health examinations, orders, and minor procedures. Coordinate and provide procedures for urine drug screening including follow up with physicians and clients. Assist patients with community resource linkages such as Addiction Counsellors, Mental Health follow-up, and transition to community care. Ongoing consultation with community pharmacies and monitoring of client medication dosing. Educate clients on non-prescribed drug interactions while on buprenorphine or methadone. Monitor client risk and complete suicide risk screening and assessment as deemed necessary. Contribute in VODP Team meetings, team decisions, policy and procedure manual. Occasional travel between offices may be required as per the direction of the manager. The successful candidate after a period of orientation and training may have the option to work remotely up to 50% of the time.

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Psychiatric Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(a)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
