Your Opportunity:

The Adult Community Addiction and Mental Health Clinic located at Northgate is seeking an experienced RN/RPN for our clinic nurse role. In this role, the nurse will work closely within our multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, treatment including medication administration, and case management to community clients. Regular interactions with clients include mental status exams, medication & metabolic monitoring, and ongoing nursing assessment. The clients at Northgate are experiencing a vast range of clinical presentations. Many clients will need support in navigating their social, financial, and mental health needs. The clinic nurse plays an important role in ensuring these basic needs are being addressed and supported through the right channels. Many clients at Northgate are on Community Treatment Orders (CTO). The clinic nurse will have great knowledge of CTOs and how they function to support client care within a community setting. The successful candidate will have more than 2 years of Psychiatric nursing in a community setting. A nurse with extensive psychiatric in-patient experience who has superb knowledge of community resources would be considered.

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

2 years of community addiction/mental health nursing experience; candidate with extensive inpatient psychiatry experience may be considered. Formal clinical training in triage, intervention, stabilization and case management skills, preferably in a community setting. Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments. Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver\'s license as work-related travel is required. Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Connect Care and Netcare. A thorough understanding of psychotropic medications, medication administration, and working knowledge of medication coverage is an asset. Demonstrated ability to work well with a range of community and agency stakeholders as well as clients and families.
