Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Specialty Home Pharma RPN, under the leadership of the Specialty Pharma Supervisor and/or Specialty Pharma Manager, delivers and monitors specialized infusion or injectable pharmacological treatments, completes various types of lab testing or observation visits and supports clinical trial visits in the home setting. The home pharma nurse is responsible for monitoring the client for infusion and injection related reactions (intervening as required), providing health teaching for self-injections, ensure documentation required for the various medical therapies is complete, and submitted to meet the reporting timelines. This includes documentation required for billing, post visit reports, reporting required pharmacovigilance.

Specialty Pharma Nursing is a one-on-one patient experience, and we strive to ensure that patients stay with the same nurse visit to visit to ensure the best quality of care.

The successful candidate will be required to work rotating days and early evenings (Monday to Friday).

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Develop and review nursing care plans that are individualized to each client;
  • Conducts patient health assessments and medication administration teaching;
  • Obtain IV access through peripheral IV initiation; where applicable;
  • Prepares and administers a variety of specialized intravenous or injectable pharmacological treatments;
  • Provide client care by utilizing the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, health teaching, and reporting any adverse events to immediate supervisor or required stakeholders;
  • Perform routine nursing duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and provincial body standards;
  • Provide patient centered care according to the established care plan or medical directive;
  • Perform specialized nursing procedures for which recognized training and current competency have been demonstrated and completed;
  • Observe and document client conditions;
  • Participates in the home infusion patient satisfaction survey's initiative
Additional Responsibilities
  • Understands and implements infection prevention practices
  • Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities
  • Adheres to Bayshore policies and procedures
  • Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System; and contractual training provided by pharmaceutical partners ( PV, Antibribery-AntiCorruption (ABAC), product training)
  • Participates in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties. Is responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns;
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information;
  • Supports in clinic as required;
  • Supports with patient case management as required;
  • Completes other tasks as requested
  • Support the clinical trial team as a site nurse enrolling patients into phase 3 & phase -4 post marketing studies
Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Education:
  • Graduated from an accredited nursing education program;
  • Current Registered Practical Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse and in good standing with provincial nursing regulatory body;
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience:
  • Experience in administering specialty pharmaceuticals preferred
  • Experience with home care is an asset;
  • Exceptional peripheral IV initiation skills

  • Valid drivers license; able to travel up to 50% of the time;
  • Flexibility to accommodate weekend shifts should need arise.
