Big Creek Family Health Organization is a team of 4 Family Physicians, Medical Office Assistants (MOA's) and a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) located at the Delhi Community Health Centre in Delhi, Ontario. The clinic is currently recruiting an RPN to support the Physician's practices and provide primary care nursing services as required by patient need. Regular weekday hours only (830am-430pm) in the range of 22.5-35 hours /week to be negotiated with the successful candidate. Pay range is $27-$29/hour.

Job Duties
Complete brief history of clients, anticipate and ensure equipment for client visit is set up in room.
Triage client's needs, either by telephone or in person.
Communicate results to patients by telephone, secure messaging or in-person, as determined by the physicians.
Screen and assess clients with minor episodic illnesses according to established protocols.
Perform basic nursing skills (e.g. dressing of wounds, injections, vaccinations (infants, children, and adults), suture /staple removal, and assisting with other procedures as requested).
Learn and preform new clinical skills under medical directive as determined by clinic need (e.g. ear flushing, HPV testing, etc.)
Assist providers with prescription ordering; clean/autoclaving equipment).
Perform non clinical duties such as the ordering and distribution of supplies.
Provide back-up and cross-coverage to non-nursing staff as required (e.g. answering phones, booking appointments, managing faxes, filling out forms, etc.)
Maintain accurate health records and up to date clinical notes in accordance with College of Nurses Standards and Big Creek Family Health Organization policies.
Ensure all exam rooms are stocked sufficiently and consistently.
Order medical supplies and maintain inventory controls; as well as ordering of vaccines, maintaining vaccine fridge logs and liaising with Public Health
Maintain contact with pharmaceutical company representatives and maintain a current inventory of pharmaceutical samples.
Organize printed resources such as patient education materials, diagnostic and other requisitions.
Work during both regular and very occasional extended hours if required (evenings)
Participate in team and staff meetings and other meetings and committee work as appropriate to support both service delivery and organizational goals.
Collect, analyze and report on data and relevant information and participate in research as determined by Big Creek Family Health Organization.
Contribute to the Centre's practices of hiring, orienting and training of staff.
Work individually and collaboratively in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives and activities.
Work in a manner that preserves confidentiality.
Work in a manner that ensures client safety and minimizes risk to clients, volunteers and the Family Health Organization.
Work in a manner that demonstrates self-reflection and personal accountability for work performance

Requirements
Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (or Registered Nurse) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Preferred experience as a Registered Practical Nurse (or Registered Nurse), including in primary care or community setting preferred. A combination of primary care, community and acute care experience will be considered however new graduates are welcome to apply
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Computer literacy, experience with Telus Practice Solutions is an asset though training can be provided), MS Word, Excel and e-mail required.
Knowledge of available resources accessible to clients (e.g. food banks, local shelters, mental health supports) an asset,
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a primary care team and within a broader interdisciplinary staff team.
Experience working effectively with culturally and economically diverse populations.
Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting and supporting patients.
Must demonstrate effective communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking questions when clarification is needed.
Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion.
Willingness to learn new clinical skills

Working Conditions
May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to HIV, Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and other pathogens
Interacts with patients, family members, staff, visitors, government and other health groups or agencies (MOH, Public Health etc.)
Travel may be required.
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
Overtime as required.
