To provide patient assessment and care within the RPN scope of practice for patients undergoing orthopaedic surgery, that meets hospital and college of nurses standards.
The RPN works collaboratively with the inter-professional team to provide person-centered care.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Conducts patient health assessment in preparation for surgery and develops a care plan.
Coordinates necessary investigations.
Completes screening tools and documentation.
Provides patient and family education.
Communicates with other members of the team to coordinate care needs.
Demonstrates commitment to quality improvement ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
Provides physical assistance with patient transfers as needed.
Qualifications/Skills:
Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario with no restrictions to practice as an RPN
Current BCLS Certificate
Health Assessment course essential
5 years current acute care orthopaedic surgical experience
Previous Holland Bone and Joint Program experience an asset
Strong assessment skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Proven leadership skills
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills in order to communicate effectively with patients, families and members of the inter-professional team
