POSITION:
Registered Practical Nurse
DEPARTMENT:
Medical Clinics - SSTIC
CONDITIONS:
Part-time (0.50 FTE)
HOURS:
Approximately 37.5 Bi-weekly Hours
SHIFTS:
Days
7.5 hours per shift (subject to change)
WAGE RANGE:
Scale Minimum Maximum
CUPE09 $28.43/hr $32.08/hr
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides comprehensive, quality patient and family centered care to meet the identified care needs of patients (particularly those with Skin and Soft Tissue Infection, Wound Care needs, and care needs of Medical Day Clinic Patients) of varying complexity but with predictable outcomes and manageable responses.
- Has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide safe, evidence-based nursing practice within his/her level of competency and comply with the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards, QCH Policies and Procedures, as well as the standards of care appropriate to his/her area of clinical practice.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- RPN diploma
- Two years of recent experience on a Surgery / Medicine Unit; with a focus on IV initiation and sterile technique/assisting with sterile clinical procedures
- Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting patients/end-users troubleshooting technology
- Demonstrated computer competency
- Current BCLS
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to understand, interpret and carry out verbal and written instructions in the English language
- Ability to work effectively within the nursing and inter-professional team
PREFERRED:
- Experience or knowledge of infectious diseases
- Experience with clinical documentation in an Electronic Health Record
- Membership in RPNAO and associations related to nursing specialty
- Experience as preceptor
