Position Summary
The Registered Practical Nurse will enjoy a role as part of the multidisciplinary team that uses an emphatic client-centered approach to patient care. The Registered Practical Nurse provides nursing care to the full Scope of Practice for Registered Practical Nurses. This position offers a unique mix of patient populations that allows for diversity and the ability to use assessment and technical skills on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications
1. Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
2. Current Certificate or equivalent for the following skills: Venipuncture as well as Capillary Heel Sampling; Medication Administration; Asepsis; IV Maintenance
3. Perinatal Nursing Certificate Program for Maternal Newborn or equivalent within the last 5 years
4. Breastfeeding Certificate Program or equivalent within last 5 years
5. Current Certification as a Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
6. Heart and Stroke Foundation course in CPR or equivalent
7. Current knowledge of and recent (within the past 2 years) experience in providing care and support to the newborn
8. Recent (within the last 2 years) experience in providing care and support to low risk post-partum women and their families
9. Demonstrated experience in dealing with issues of diversity and ethical dilemmas
10. Demonstrated problem-solving skills within their Scope of Practice
11. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
