Are you ready to contribute to a healthcare legacy that makes a difference?THE OPPORTUNITYThe Registered Practical Nurse provides a pivotal role within the patient care team and provides care in situations in which the patient's condition is stable and the patient care outcomes are predictable. Within the scope of practice, the Registered Practical Nurse promotes health, assesses and provides care and treatment by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to attain or maintain optimal function for the patient.The Emergency Department at Georgian Bay General Hospital provides 24-hour emergency service to the residents and visitors of North Simcoe. The Emergency Department sees an average of 120 people a day, with volumes sometimes doubling during the summer months. The Emergency Department is supported by a multidisciplinary team and promotes an environment of collaboration and teamworkQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEThe ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

• Graduate of a recognized Registered Practical Nursing Program
• Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
• Completion of a Coronary Care course (college level)
• Patient Assessment course completion
• Competent with current basic RPN scope of practice (Medication Administration, I.V. infusion, etc.)
• Experience with wound care, glucometer, and catheterization for males and females

Previous experience in an Emergency Department * Meditech Expanse knowledge is considered an asset

• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with all patients, physicians, staff, and visitors
• Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with patients, physicians, staff, and visitors
• Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and families as well as other members of the healthcare team within a challenging and exciting health care environment
• Commitment to customer service and teamwork
• Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
• Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles

• As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position
