What we need:
As a member of the interprofessional team, the Registered Practical Nurse (CUPE), Palliative Care and Complex Continuing Care, will work closely with the team in providing care to medically complex and palliative patient population. The RPN will practice in an environment where our focus is patient/family centered care, customer satisfaction and ongoing professional development.
The successful candidate will work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays on a full-time basis. Please note schedules may change due to operational needs of the department.
What you bring to the role:Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses
Current BLS certification
Previous experience in a medical/surgical environment with evidence of well developed clinical and patient assessment skills
Recent Palliative and Complex Continuing Care experience is required
Palliative Care courses preferred
Completion of the medication administration certificate or equivalent
RPNAO membership is preferred
Excellent physical assessment skills
Proficient computer skills
Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family centred care environment
Demonstrated excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently
Well developed organization, communication, interpersonal and teaching skills
Evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experience
Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
