Position Summary:
Ambulatory Care refers to the medical care and services provided to patients on an outpatient basis, without admission to the hospital. In this position you will primarily work within the Infectious Disease Clinic, Medical Day Care Clinic and General Internal Medicine Rapid Assessment Clinic (GIMRAC). There will be opportunity to pick up within other ambulatory clinics as well based on orientation, operational need and shift availability.
Qualifications:
Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
Current certificate, skill and knowledge of I.V. Therapy and venipuncture is required
Demonstrated clinical assessment and effective health history documentation
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Experience in Acute Medicine and/or ED an asset
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple disciplines to effectively deliver quality, family centred care.
Demonstrated effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
Demonstrated critical- thinking and decision-making skills
Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment
Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required
Demonstrated commitment to quality and patient safety, considers safety of self and co-workers.
A willingness to support other ambulatory care clinics as needed.
