Job Description

We are seeking a Registered Physiotherapist to join the Chronic Pain Management Program (CPMP) at Kilala Lelum Health Centre for a 10-12 month temporary contract. The CPMP is a program that aims to provide effective and culturally-safe chronic pain therapy to people living with concurrent disorders (substance use disorders and/or complex mental health comorbidities).


The Physiotherapist (0.6 FTE) will work in an environment dedicated to Indigenous health and wellness alongside and in collaboration with the CPMP team, including a primary care physician, kinesiologist, Elder and medical office assistant. This role may also work closely with broader staff at Kilala Lelum such as counsellors, social workers, outreach workers, nurses and cultural wellness workers.

Responsibilities:



Provide culturally safe physiotherapy services to members living with concurrent disorders; assess members' abilities, needs, and goals; develop rehabilitation plans and implement treatment in collaboration with the primary care team, kinesiologist, cultural wellness and allied health teams to ensure culturally responsive care.

Qualifications & Skills



A degree in physical therapy and current, complete registration with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC). Preference will be given to candidates with Indigenous ancestry and/or those with lived experience working with Indigenous people. Experience in community settings that serve Indigenous community members and communities with barriers to health and wellness equity. Skills in chronic pain therapy and knowledge about substance use disorders and concurrent disorders. Demonstrated commitment to culturally safe, trauma-informed, member-centered, harm reduction and recovery-oriented practices. Ability to work alongside and in partnership with colleagues to help the CPMP team achieve its aims and objectives. Ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds, adjust to new or unexpected events, and the skills/ experience to deal with and guide others in conflict resolution. Flexible, team-oriented, and committed to respectful, collaborative problem-solving. Cultural competency training or willingness to participate in a cultural competency and a commitment to ongoing professional development in Indigenous cultural safety is required.

Working Conditions:



Working schedule is 16-32 hours/week depending on applicant preference, with semi-flexible hours during the clinic's operating hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM). Work will be carried out primarily at the physiotherapy clinic and gym space at 687 Powell St.

Supervision Provided:




This position is supervised by the Primary Care Co-Leads and the Executive Director.

Additional Information:



Successful candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check. Hourly salary will be negotiated commensurate with experience, within the range of $65 - 70 per hour. Extended health benefits will be available for qualifying staff. Ideal start date is Dec 2025-Jan 2026. This contract ends in Nov-Dec 2026.
