About Affirming Care Pharmacy: Founded in 2021, Affirming Care Pharmacy is a specialty pharmacy with locations in Calgary, Alberta and Mississauga, Ontario. We have partnered with PurposeMed Inc., a telehealth organization that provides complex healthcare services in HIV prevention and mental health treatment (ADHD, anxiety and depression). Affirming Care is highly integrated with PurposeMed’s operations and offers specialized pharmacy services to our patients, providing them with an end-to-end healthcare experience, from treatment to prescription delivery to continuous affirming care.

About the Position:

We are looking for a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our incredible Affirming Care Pharmacy team in Mississauga.
Reporting to our Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Technician will be primarily responsible for 1) preparing, filling, dispensing and shipping prescription medications to our patients and 2) Assisting our patients navigate insurance challenges and available provincial/federal programs to make their medications more affordable. Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients
  • Assist patients across various communication platforms; phone, email, SMS and other internal systems
  • Perform key administrative duties; manage a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, create and update patient profiles and maintain internal pharmacy databases
  • Execute the end-to-end prescription process; preparation, filling, labelling, dispensing, packaging and shipping
  • Verify prescription information is complete and accurate
  • Ensure every request is processed accurately and as per College of Pharmacy regulations
  • Contribute to the efficient and safe tidiness and workflow in the dispensary
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets to track and monitor patient records
  • Navigate insurance challenges with patients and proactively identify solutions
  • Assist with inventory management; perform inventory audits, manage packaging and pharmacy supplies, and coordinate medication orders with the Pharmacist
  • Collaborate with the Affirming Care team and telehealth partners

Requirements:
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • 2+ years of experience as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Knowledge and efficiency of all aspects of pharmacy software (data entry, billing, report generating, troubleshooting)
  • Positive attitude and team player
  • Strong sense of urgency and work with a “how can I help” mentality
  • Enjoys performing a variety of tasks daily and a fast-paced work environment
  • Detail oriented and able to set priorities and manage time effectively
  • Active listener and strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of provincial/federal benefit programs is an asset (i.e., Trillium Drug Program)
  • Flexible to work different shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Fluent in English (French is an asset)
  • Energetic and motivated to grow within the Affirming Care Pharmacy organization

Required Availability: Flexible, including weekends and holidays. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity, at 40 hours per week. Affirming Care Pharmacy is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
