1-Peak - IFT-PCP-Seat-11 - (1400-0000 - 3 Week Rotation).

Description:

As a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), you will transport ill or injured patients from scenes of emergency and/or between facilities. This includes operating ambulances or other modes of transportation, and assessing emergency scenes and patients. You may treat patients by administering minor medications, basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation. You may also lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes. You will assist with ensuring that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles, such as non-emergent transport (NET), are properly stocked and equipped.

Required Qualifications:

Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP) as a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) issued by Heart and Stroke. Must be able to obtain a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator Licence, or equivalent, and a current five (5) year driver\'s abstract - within six (6) months with no more than six (6) demerits prior to commencing work. Must provide proof of certificate of successful completion of Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test by the Lifemark, or an approved equivalent test, prior to receiving an offer of employment - applicable to all applicants, including AHS employees who do not hold a clinical position within AHS EMS (VESST, Clinical Educator, EMR, PCP, ACP and Community Paramedic). Additional Required Qualifications:

Active registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Paramedics, without restrictions or conditions. Current Heart and Stroke Cardiac Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BCLS-HCP) certification (Level C). For candidates external to AHS EMS, completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via Lifemark within 6 months of application. Actively employed by AHS EMS in the Calgary Zone. Resume to include/confirm name of institution attended, program completed and graduation date. Post-Secondary Education: Completion of post-secondary education (Doctorate, Master, Bachelor Degree; Diploma or Certificate) preferred. Preferred Qualifications:

EMS Experience: Metro, Suburban-Rural or Intra-facility transport operations, including working in a Specialty Team Member role such as Flights, TEMS, IRP and MIH. Resume to include/confirm name of service/employer, employment tenure in years/months with dates. Other Related Experience: examples - Industrial, Firefighting, Emergency or Critical Care Nursing.
