Your Opportunity:
We are looking for a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse with experience in patient-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-based care for the Addiction and Mental Health Adult Outreach Team in Medicine Hat. Services will be community-based and recovery-oriented towards adults experiencing complex addiction and/or mental health issues and homelessness. You will also work in collaboration with community partner teams, both RA and non-RA, to collaboratively provide care to individuals whose lives have been impacted by unstable housing, socioeconomic factors, and substances. Working within the RN scope of practice, you will provide addiction and mental health assessments for clients to determine physical and mental health stability, treatment planning and implementation, case management, psychosocial interventions and monitoring of both patient physical and addiction/mental health issues. You will demonstrate a knowledgeable and caring clinical practice that is grounded in addiction and mental health nursing from a recovery-oriented perspective; have strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrate time management, independent decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; and an ability to foster positive relationships within a team environment are all expectations of this role. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, allied professionals and community agencies to provide seamless service to clients in various stages of recovery.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work independently. Experience working with vulnerable populations. Three years of recent experience working in a community-based program with clients with complex Addiction & Mental Health issues. Previous experience providing Outreach care and completing AMH assessments. Previous experience performing psychosocial interventions. Experience with community resources and ability to form and maintain relationships with community stakeholders. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated effective time management, independent decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; and an ability to foster positive relationships within a team environment are all expectations of this role.
