Schedule:

Full Time, 12 hours shifts, days, nights, weekends, weekdays. 12 months or until incumbent returns. Beginning July 23, 2025

Reports to:

Medical Detox Manager

The Registered Nurse/Registered Psych Nurse, under the direction of the Nursing Lead/Program Manager, will primarily be responsible to advise patients on health care including health promotion, disease, illness, and accident prevention within a Medically Assisted Detox Facility. This position will collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care and support in consultation with individuals. This role will also respect and protect the rights of clients, including but not limited to their right to independence, autonomy, and self-determination; their right to choose and practice individual values, beliefs, religion, and culture; their right to privacy and dignity. The Registered Nurse/Registered Psych Nurse must degree or diploma in science, health sciences, or a field appropriate to the position and three years of experience in an appropriate field.

Respect and protect the rights of clients, including but not limited to their right to independence, autonomy, and self-determination; their right to choose and practice individual values, beliefs, religion, and culture; their right to privacy and dignity Advise patients on health care including health promotion, disease, illness, and accident prevention in relation to Medically Assisted Detoxification Use effective interpersonal skills to communicate complex and sensitive information Maintain work area in a clean and professional manner at all times, ensuring proper tools and equipment are available when needed Monitor patient progress, keeping records, charts, reports, etc. up to date Provide a consistently high standard of care and support for patients Provide direct and comprehensive care and assistance to patients with specialized and complex needs Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care and support in consultation with individuals Schedule or conduct follow-up meetings/appointments with patients Assess, evaluate, plan, and revise patient care/support Encourage open communication among patients when discussing issues, problems, or concerns Ensure commitment to quality, patient safety, and risk management initiatives Provide education and counselling to patients Provide ongoing advocacy and support to patients Provide timely and astute information to other members of the team, as well as to individuals under direct care Demonstrate cooperation among other staff members in order to ensure efficiency of care and support for patients Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately Perform responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation Prepare and submit accurate reports, records, and charts Practice the strength of asking for help Other duties as assigned

Required:



Non-restricted registration in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)

Completed education from an approved educational program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) Current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
