Purpose:

The Registered Nurse will provide, on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, cardiac invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Standard Qualifications:

A graduate from an approved School of Nursing (university or community college) with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Required Qualifications:

Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support

BCLS.

Current certification in

ECG

Level I and II. Current certification in Peripheral Intravenous Initiation and Maintenance. Current certification in Life Saving Drugs. Physically able to work while wearing a 3-9 kg (7-20 lbs) protective gown for up to 75% of the shift tour. Ministry of Labour "Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps" training certificate is required.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years full-time equivalent experience (within the last 5 years) in a cardiology related area.

General Skills:

Patient teaching skills specific to cardiology patients. Ability to work in a high-paced team environment. Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Computer skills including Microsoft Office software, Meditech Client Service OE, and GRASP software.

Preference Given to:

Candidates who have experience in the cardiac catheterization lab within the last year. Demonstrated current experience in circulating and scrubbing in a sterile field. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Lfe Support

ACLS.

Current certification in Electrical Defibrillation. Current certification in Intra-aortic Balloon Pump

IABP.

Current certification in hemodynamic monitoring.

French Language Service (FLS) Designation:

Bilingualism requirements will be posted in accordance with the FLS Designation Plan. If a position is designated bilingual and no bilingual candidates (both internal and external) meet the qualifications, unilingual candidates may be considered.
