Providing nurse services to vulnerable pregnant people and new families in a community setting.
Educating and supporting parents during pregnancy and transition into parenthood with a focus on promoting maternal and infant health and well-being. Proficient in breastfeeding support, newborn care, and childbirth education, with a commitment to empowering families during the transition into parenthood. Facilitating a pregnancy peer support group and a postpartum depression & anxiety peer support group.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse with current, active registration with BC.
Experience working with families in perinatal, mental health or community outreach is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, breastfeeding and infant development.
Knowledge of Indigenous health issues and cultural safety is essential.

Key responsibilities
Provide individual support, resources and information to pregnant people and new families
.
Apply trauma-informed and culturally sensitive consultation, counselling, and referrals for participants with identified health and lifestyle risks.
Assist / facilitate a peer support group for pregnant people and new families.
Assist / facilitate a postpartum depression and anxiety peer support group.
Provide one-on-one perinatal education and follow-up support for program participants.
Assist families in connecting with NOFCS programs such as Mental Health, Family Support, Fathers Support Group, Early Childhood Development and other community programs.
Provide evidence-based information and resources for program participants related to maternal and infant health and well-being.
Network and liaise with community agencies and resources.
Cultural knowledge and understanding of Indigenous families.
Assist in evaluation of programs and services offered through the Pregnancy Outreach Program.
Program Administration:
Maintains client records and appropriate documentation according to Records Management Guidelines and agency policy. Ensures client records are securely stored. Ensures all required documentation is complete and accurate.
Maintains and submits accurate statistics and reports as required by the funder, the Society or as requested by the Program Manager.
Develops and maintains a collection of resource material for clients.
Ensures that policies and procedures are adhered to in the delivery of services.
Submits employment records such as Timesheets, Mileage Reports and Professional Development forms to the Program Manager in a timely fashion.
Community Role:
Initiates referrals and liaison with community agencies as required by each client's case.
Represents the Society positively and professionally in the community and in all activities.

A valid Class 5 Driver's license and availability of personal vehicle for work is required.
