Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Associate Manager and the Provincial Notifiable Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Program, the Registered Nurse (RN) contributes to improving the overall health of the public by providing STI related services. This position is responsible for but not limited to: Health assessment, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of STI/HIV. Monitoring and interpretation of lab results. Client counseling and education in the prevention of STI/HIV. Fostering appropriate linkages to health care resources in collaboration with the client. Contact tracing/partner notification. Establishing and maintaining relationships to promote an understanding of the Provincial Notifiable STI program related to testing, treatment, public health reporting, partner follow-up and drug replacement. Participating with the STI program and other PNN in education initiatives, the planning, integration, implementation and evaluation of clinical practice and strategies to reduce STI and HIV. The Nurse functions in an expanded scope of practice that undertakes investigation and follow-up of notifiable STI cases and contacts. This includes responding to STI and HIV investigations according to the Practice Support Documents and the Test and Treat Guidelines under the direction of the provincial STI Medical Consultant. The nurse will link to physicians, outreach facilities, First Nations communities, correctional facilities and other stakeholders to promote testing and treatment for STI. Understanding the community will be essential in targeting areas or populations at increased risk for STI. This position is part of Primary Care Alberta. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum three (3) years within the past five (5) years of public health experience. Experience with Contact Tracing/Partner Notification. Experience with the management of Notifiable Diseases as per the Public Health Act. Strong communication skills and demonstrated knowledge of population health. Experience working with priority populations. Experience with First Nations Inuit Health (FNIH), Indigenous and rural communities, outreach work and harm reduction.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Minimum two (2) years within the past four (4) years' experience in an STI Clinic or Sexual Health. Experience in phlebotomy and collection of throat and rectal swabs. Experience documenting in CDOM/Connect Care and other electronic health records. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
