We currently have a Regular Part Time (0.75 FTE) opportunity for a Registered Nurse in the Schulich Heart Program \xe2\x80\x93 Arrhythmia Services department at our Bayview campus.

Hours of Work:

Weekdays: Days; 10hrs; As per schedule

Summary of Duties

The main functions of the RN include, but are not limited to:

• Pre- and post-operative assessment of patients undergoing arrhythmia device implants, intra-operative support during ICD, pacemaker, and ILR implants, device interrogation and programming of in and out patients in clinic setting
• This role requires wearing a lead apron during device implantation procedure
• The RN supports the philosophy of Person-Centred Care as well as the principles, mission and values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre
• The RN works closely with other members of the interprofessional team

Qualifications/Skills

• Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current BCLS certificate
• Current ACLS certification an asset
• Critical Care or Coronary Care experience preferred
• Previous experience with cardiac arrhythmia management and associated devices preferred
• Previous Cath Lab experience preferred
• Previous patient/staff education experience preferred
• Demonstrate knowledge of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators
• Demonstrate commitment to continued education
• Ability to adapt to a fast-changing and stressful environment in a positive manner
• Demonstrated effective ability in: interpersonal relationships; oral and written communication skills; priority setting skills; problem solving; decision making; facilitating team work; conflict resolution & time management
• Commitment to the quality care of our patients, evidence based practice and a clear understanding of professional standards
• Ability to integrate and apply critical thinking skills to patient care within scope of practice
• Ability to function independently and as a part of the interprofessional team
• Commitment to promoting healthy work environment
