We are a leader in Indigenous Health. Our foundation is Indigenous Health in Indigenous Hands. We provide accessible, quality, culturally safe and holistic health care that supports and enhances the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work with our 11 First Nation community partners and one Indigenous Friendship Centre in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services.
The opportunity:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our primary health care teams serving the Batchewana and Garden River First Nation communities. This role works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to provide client-centered care, including health assessments, treatment planning, diagnostic testing, and patient education.
What you need to bring with you:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
Membership with professional associations (e.g., RNAO)
Experience in primary care, clinic, or community health settings preferred
Experience working with Indigenous communities is a strong asset
Ability to conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and coordinate care plans
Experience administering treatments, performing diagnostic testing within scope, and reviewing lab results in collaboration with Primary Care Providers
Skilled in supporting patients and families through education, emotional, and spiritual guidance
Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
Experience maintaining accurate patient records in compliance with professional and regulatory standards
Ability to promote patient independence and wellbeing through education and support
Ability to support clients with system navigation and advocacy
Experience working with electronic medical records (EMRs)
Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple projects and programs
Competence in conflict resolution
Knowledge of Anishinabek health and traditional health practices
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Valid driver's licence, safe driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle
Police Record/Vulnerable Sector Check

What to expect?
Given the traditional practices of Indigenous people, from time-to-time exposure to smoke from the burning of sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar may occur.
