SUMMARY





Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Leader or designate, the RN works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to provide person-centered nursing care in a safe, homelike environment. The role includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care to support residents' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. As a primary caregiver, the RN also mentors team members, shares knowledge, and may provide direction to assigned staff.

What You Will Do





Key Responsibilities:




Assess and plan individualized resident care using clinical judgment and evidence-based practice. Monitor and evaluate residents' conditions, adjusting care plans as needed and reporting changes to the care team. Provide direct nursing care in alignment with organizational policies, procedures, and the "Home for Us" care philosophy. Document assessments, care plans, and progress notes accurately in both manual and electronic systems. Collaborate with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to support care planning and discharge processes. Offer guidance to Resident Care Aides and contribute to effective team coordination within a household model of care. Act as a resident advocate and participate in continuous quality improvement and educational activities.

What You Bring





QUALIFICATIONS




Education, Training, and Experience:




Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. Gerontology Certificate from an accredited program or demonstrated equivalency. One (1) year recent, related experience in gerontological services comparable to those provided by Providence Living Society.



Skills and Abilities:





Demonstrated knowledge of:


Knowledge of palliative care principles; depression, dementia, and delirium; current pain management theories; and competency and guardian legislation. Proficient in CPR, Basic Life Support (BLS), and First Aid procedures. Skilled in providing professional nursing care aligned with clinical and administrative standards, including functional and physical assessments of older adults, and health and aging education. Ability to monitor and guide the care provided by Household/Resident Care Aides in a team environment Strong oral and written communication skills, with effective interpersonal abilities for collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, community resources, and families. Physically capable of performing the duties of the role.
