Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Care, the
Registered Nurse (RN)
is responsible for supervising and directing the care provided by department staff while delivering skilled nursing care to residents in a compassionate and respectful manner. The RN plays a key leadership role within the care team, ensuring that high-quality, resident-centered care is provided in accordance with established Care Plans, regulatory standards, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and evaluate resident Care Plans and nursing interventions
Provide hands-on, clinical nursing care, including medication administration and assistance with activities of daily living as required
Supervise, mentor, and support Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) and Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to ensure consistent, compassionate care delivery
Foster clear, respectful communication among staff, residents, and families
Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and external care providers to optimize resident outcomes
Promote teamwork, professional conduct, and adherence to infection prevention and safety protocols
Participate in ongoing professional development, including in-services, seminars, and training sessions
Qualifications
Current
Registered Nurse (RN)
license with the
College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
, or eligibility for a temporary or permanent license
Previous supervisory or leadership experience an asset
Experience in retirement or long-term care settings preferred
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends, call-ins, and holidays
