The Registered Nurse (RN), is responsible for promoting health, preventing illness, and helping residents attain and maintain the highest level of health possible, while working with and supervising staff in the provision of care in a manner that promotes dignity, compassion and ensures adherence to the residents' care plans under the direction of the Director of Care and Home Area Manager. The RN is responsible for performing their duties in a responsible, safe, and professional manner to reflect St. Joseph's at Flemings Vision, Mission, and Values.
Responsibilities:
Perform Charge Nurse duties, as assigned.
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating residents individualized plan of care, in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary care team to help residents attain and maintain the highest level of health possible
Participate in Resident Care Conferences as required and contribute to the development and modification or review of the Resident Care Plan with the resident and/or POA
Responsible for clinical assessments of Residents and subsequent implementation of appropriate nursing action
Participates in departmental meetings and serve on committees as requested
Provides effective guidance and supervision of Registered Practical Nurses (RPN's) and Personal Support Workers (PSW)
Completes documentation, as required, including processing of Doctors' orders, appointments, incident reports, consultations, professional charting and note taking
Participate in annual education, required in-services, committees and adheres to St. Joseph's at Flemings policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Valid RN Registration with the Colleges of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Experience in a Long Term Care setting preferred
Supervisory experience (RPN/PSW/Other Staff) an asset
Must be able to work weekends, statutory holidays, and varied shifts
Must have excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication and interpersonal skills
Possess strong conflict resolution skills and critical thinking skills. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN)
provides $25,000 in grant funding to eligible nurses in return for a 24-month commitment to work full-time hours with that employer. St. Joseph's at Fleming is proud to be an approved employer for the CCPN program.
To be eligible for the CCPN, each nurse must:
Have been hired by an eligible organization after February 1, 2022;
Not have been employed as a nurse in Ontario in the six months prior to being hired;
Commit to 24-months of employment at a full-time work schedule offered by the approved employer;
Hold a Certificate of Registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
Not be receiving funds from the Ministry of Health for the Tuition Support Program for Nurses; and
Not be employed through the Nursing Graduate Guarantee Initiative.

Part-time employees may voluntarily join the HOOPP Pension Plan. Part-time RN's receive 13% in lieu of benefits, if not enrolled in HOOPP. Part time RN's who voluntarily join the HOOPP pension plan, shall receive 9% in lieu of benefits.
