Your Opportunity:
We have an exciting position in our program for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) at the Royal Alexandra Hospital In-centre Hemodialysis Unit. The RN works to provide hemodialysis treatment to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team in a fast-paced environment. The RN delivers comprehensive patient and family-centered care to renal patients. The RN practices within the philosophy and guidelines of the Alberta Kidney Care - North (AKCN) to provide leadership, critical thinking, clinical judgment, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care to promote, maintain, or restore health, prevent illness, injury, and disability to the renal patient. The RN practices nursing care according to Hemodialysis Nursing Specialty Scope of Practice, regulating body, clinical policies, and nursing standards. The RN demonstrates a professional demeanor, pursues regular professional development opportunities, and maintains professional designation. The RN assumes unit leadership and charges responsibilities to support all levels of the multidisciplinary team as per Unit Manager Direction. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of current Hemodialysis or adult critical care experience is required. Charge nurse skilled. Connect care proficient. Demonstrated time management, organizational skills, communication, and interpersonal skills. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities are required. Basic computer skills required. The successful candidate must be able to lift 40 lbs. (18 kg).

Preferred Qualifications:

Nephrology Certification is an asset. Familiarity with NIS, AHS databases is an asset. Trained within Alberta Kidney Care North program. Preference will be given to candidates with in-centre hemodialysis training.
