Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager - Forensic Assessment & Outpatient Services, the incumbent is a member of the FAOS interdisciplinary team and will provide in clinic & outreach forensic mental health services to the NCR-MD client population according to the professional standards of practice and the codes of conduct of Recovery Alberta and the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta/ College of Registered Nurses of Alberta. The incumbent will carry out professional duties of assessment, consultation, education, treatment and discharge planning. Further will complete psychosocial assessments, conduct interviews with patients, families and other collateral contacts to develop and maintain a continuity of care philosophy in the provision of clinical services. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the incumbent will perform clinical assessments including assessment of current mental functioning, community placement needs, medication monitoring and compliance, treatment follow up needs, financial, housing, and social functioning needs of offenders mandated to comply with assessment & treatment services under the umbrella of the NCR services spectrum. As a member of the NCR team, you will be responsible for ongoing communication with the Alberta Review Board and the organization of review hearings and client follow up with respect to NCR conditions imposed. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum Three (3) years Community Psychiatric Nursing experience required. Minimum three (3) years In-patient Psychiatry experience required. Strong interpersonal communication skills, solid interviewing, assessment skills and report writing are a must. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention required. Preferred Qualifications:
Solid Knowledge of and experience working with the offender population an asset. Firm knowledge and experience working with corrections and the justice system an asset. Baccalaureate degree in Mental Health nursing an asset. Experience with community partner engagement an asset. Knowledge of therapeutic modalities/ interventions an asset. Knowledge of current forensic risk measures an asset.
