Your Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled addiction and mental health professional to be a member of the interdisciplinary Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT). Reporting to the Care Manager, the Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse will provide assertive, client focused, culturally appropriate, evidenced-based, recovery-oriented care to adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, addictions and houselessness. ACT works primarily with individuals whose illness presents a barrier to engagement in treatment. Clinical services are most often delivered through outreach services in the community, and in partnership and collaboration with clients, families, other AHS providers, inner city agencies, and community programs. Nurses in ACT are expected to work to full scope within a team case management environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of addiction and mental health disorders with experience providing assessment and treatment for these complex needs and be able to navigate the health system to ensure the coordination of services to best meet the client's needs. This candidate will be able to multitask and effectively manage multiple priorities and demands. This candidate will have a good working knowledge of legislation regarding mental health care including the Alberta Mental Health Act and Community Treatment Orders (CTO). This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care, while reflecting shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Psychiatric Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing, degree preferred, holding active registration with the associated professional college. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Minimum of 3 years of relevant addiction and mental health experience, preferably in a community setting. Critical thinking skills, working knowledge on the management of concurrent disorders and medical co-morbidities, and the principles of chronic disease management and recovery are required. Advanced knowledge and skill in the areas of evidenced-based assessment and treatment of mental illness and addiction is required. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and seek consultation when necessary. Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license and a vehicle in good working order for work related travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset. Demonstrated ability to work well with a range of community and agency stakeholders as well as clients and families.
