This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled addiction and mental health professional to be a member of the interdisciplinary Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT). Reporting to the Care Manager, the Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse will provide assertive, client focused, culturally appropriate, evidenced-based, recovery-oriented care to adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, addictions and houselessness. ACT works primarily with individuals whose illness presents a barrier to engagement in treatment. Clinical services are most often delivered through outreach services in the community, and in partnership and collaboration with clients, families, other AHS providers, inner city agencies, and community programs. Nurses in ACT are expected to work to full scope within a team case management environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of addiction and mental health disorders with experience providing assessment and treatment for these complex needs and be able to navigate the health system to ensure the coordination of services to best meet the client's needs. This candidate will be able to multitask and effectively manage multiple priorities and demands. This candidate will have a good working knowledge of legislation regarding mental health care including the Alberta Mental Health Act and Community Treatment Orders (CTO). This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability. You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care, while reflecting shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Psychiatric Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
