Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the manager of the Forensic Assessment Outpatient Service, the Registered Nurse - FAOS CTO Coordinator/ Case Manager will be part of a multidisciplinary team functioning with the primary responsibility for the triage, coordination and clinical case management of individuals placed on Mental Health Community Treatment orders. You will provide both community clinical outreach and in office clinical case management of same for FAOS. You will attend and participate in post referral assessment and suitability for Forensic services delivery. You will be responsible for the outreach and in hospital case consultation and management prior to program acceptance. Medication and clinical management, coordination of client apprehensions, appeals and renewals. The incumbent will carry a clinical case load and coordinate care in conjunction with the attending psychiatrists. Utilizing the strengths of the multidisciplinary team you will work with the clients to achieve and maintain optimal levels of health and wellness. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Accredited nursing education program with a specialization in Mental Health/Psychiatry (degree preferred), Psychiatric Nursing from an accredited nursing education program (degree preferred). Solid interpersonal communication skills, interviewing techniques and writing skills. In-depth knowledge of mental health/mental illness. 2-3 Years Recent experience in a Community Mental Health Setting required. Experience working with a mental health/ addiction population. Strong skill set and experience assessing and working with the acutely mentally ill / challenging populations. 3 -Years Prior Acute Psychiatry / Mental Health nursing experience required. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current working knowledge of CTO Legislation and Processes. Experience in a forensic mental health setting (Community Forensics preferred) Experience providing therapy and psychosocial interventions an asset. Baccalaureate degree preferred. Experience with partner engagement an asset. Experience providing therapy and psychosocial interventions. Solid knowledge working with offender populations and knowledge of the corrections/justice systems is an asset.
