Your Opportunity:
The OPAC coordinator position will coordinate all activities presently delivered through Unit 27's pre-admission clinic for obstetrical clients. Activities such as: the coordination of documents between care providers and Unit 27 to ensure accurate records for delivery, preop teaching of caesarean section clients, obstetrical pre-admission of all patients delivering on unit 27, maternity information session classes for patients and their families, working with EMBRACE patients and liaison between supporting departments such as Anesthesia, Diabetic Clinic, as well as Physician clinics and the PCN in Red Deer. *Please note the start dates will vary depending on individual orientation requirements.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic computer skills including experience with OPAC Connect Care workflows. Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Recent experience in obstetrical outpatient clinic setting required including working with EMBRACE patients. This individual must possess excellent organizational and communication skills. This individual must promote a collaborative practice environment with the multiple health care providers providing service on this unit. Experience in the development and coordination of the EMBRACE Program.

Ability to work within a team environment and to effectively contribute to patient and family care planning processes. Understanding of teaching/learning concepts.
