PACU RN\'s work with post-surgical patients, which involves the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of patient care plans while working as part of an interdisciplinary team. Tasks performed include frequently assessing the patient (measuring vitals: pulse, blood pressure, temperature, blood glucose, O2 saturation) and for safety reasons frequently monitoring equipment and monitors. Patients are typically under the influence of narcotics and post-anesthetic drugs and may require assistance to move. Patient handling includes boosting patients up in bed, re-positioning patients and assisting to porter a patient back to a unit. Patients can vary in size, weight, age, gender and mobility. Care also includes checking and changing dressings as required, changing bed linens as needed, preparing and administering IV medications. Gather, prepare and administer mediations, operation of PYSIX (mediation storage). Handle supplies and equipment (wound care, vitals and charts). Extubation of patients-ETT or LMA. Patient assessment and measure vitals (pulse, BP, ECG, temperature, inspect ins / outs, collect blood). Connect and check lines, adjust patient support equipment. Patient care - clean, assist with personal hygiene, dressing, oral care, incontinent pads, bed pan, etc. Change bed linens, clean, tidy work area. Stock supplies (towels, linens, gowns, pillowcases, wound care supplies, supply carts). Use of PPE and precaution procedures (i.e.: wear gowns, masks, gloves, sanitize equipment, etc.). Assist anesthesia with regional blocks. Safety assessment - inspect and check equipment.

You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour ($35.87/hour - $43.82/hour effective April 1, 2023). Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
