As a Registered Nurse in our Critical Care Float Team, supporting the Midland and Georgian Bay area, providing a pivotal role within the patient care team in situations in which the patient's condition is complex and the client care outcomes are not predictable.
The RN within the Float Team will support both the Emergency Department and our Level 3 designated Intensive Care Unit.
Within the scope of practice, the Registered Nurse promotes health, assesses, and provides care and treatment by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to attain or maintain optimal function for the patient.
QUALIFICIATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

• Current certificate of registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Must be compliant with College of Nurses quality assurance standards
• Post Graduate courses in Adult Physical Assessment, Respiratory Systems and Cardiology
• Mechanical Ventilation knowledge
• Certified Defibrillation/Pacemaker
• Central line knowledge and skill
• C.A pumps is an asset
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification required
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (A.C.L.S.) certification preferred, required within 6 months of hire.
• Current Advanced Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification preferred, required within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum 1 to 2 years recent, direct Medical/Surgical acute care experience required.
• Coronary Care Course Level 1 preferred
• Coronary Care Course Level 2 preferred
• Wound and burn care an asset
• Neuro Care an asset
• NVCI or equivalent preferred
• Proven ability to adapt to a fast paced and changing environment
• Must be able to fulfill all physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis
• Must meet expectations for appropriate, respectful, and professional conduct, as set out in the GBGH Code of Conduct
• Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using both oral and written format with patients, families, colleagues and the interprofessional team
• Demonstrated experience working independently and within a team setting
• Demonstrated excellent problem-solving ability, critical thinking, and organizational skills
• Commitment to professional growth and development of self and others
• Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

ASSETS

• Current experience in an adult ICU/CCU
• CNCC(c)
• Computerized Documentation (i.e. Meditech/Expanse)
• Canadian Triage & Acuity Scale Certification (CTAS)
• Bilingual - English and French

COMPENSATION

• Hourly rate of pay $39.07 - $56.00, up to an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 6% in lieu of vacation to start.

HOURS OF WORK
Permanent Part-Time. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA collective agreement.
