An exciting opportunity to work at full scope of practice on a busy Acute General Medical and Alternate Level of Care (ALC) Inpatient Unit at the Peter Lougheed Centre -Unit 42. As a RN on our unit, you will have an opportunity to strengthen knowledge and skills while practicing to full scope of practice. You will be able to effectively provide leadership to others, work well within a multidisciplinary team setting and can work independently. The RN on Unit 42 is expected to actively participate in quality improvement initiatives set out by the unit quality council. You will be required to care for patients who at times can become agitated, aggressive and unpredictable. You must be able to de-escalate patients and respond appropriately. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate decision making, critical thinking, organization and conflict resolution skills; interpersonal and communication skills; build and maintain relationships with patients, families and the interdisciplinary team; patient teaching, advocacy and patient and family centered care; show initiative and independence; be adaptable and flexible in a changing environment; and foster positive relationships in a team environment. Other unit specific duties include collaboration of care with the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and/or Health Care Aide (HCA) and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years' experience as a RN on a medical unit in an urban acute care setting within the last 5 years. Demonstrated ability to work with a large multi-disciplinary team. Strong communication skills essential. Demonstrated ability to work at full scope of practice. Physical ability to push, lift and carry upwards of 30lbs required. Must be physically able to walk, stand, bend and sit for the majority of a 7.75-hour shift. Must be able to help patients with mobility issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with patients with complex behaviours, dementia, addiction and mental health conditions. Experience on U42 preferred. Charge Nurse experience. "See the Person" course. NVCI certification (within the last 2 years). Collaborative Problem Solving. Current N95 Fit Test and "It's Your Move" certifications. Experience using Connect Care.
