Wage Schedule: $39.070 - $56 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager of OR, PACU and Day Surgery, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation, and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered care environment. Using an advanced level of nursing practice and excellent observation skills, the RN will successfully care for patients undergoing surgery in the Pre-Operative, Phase 1 and Phase 2 areas. They will demonstrate flexibility to work throughout the Peri Anaesthesia environment in order to promote patient flow; monitor post-operative patient progress while recovering from local, regional, or general anesthesia and timely discharge.



Qualifications

Required: Current Ontario Registration with the College of Nurses Required: Current BCLS; ACLS preferred. Required: Post Anesthetic Care Certificate Required: At least 2 years recent PACU experience Required: Venipuncture and IV Certification Critical Care or ED certificate an asset (with PACU certificate) Ability to integrate and apply critical thinking skills to patient care; Ability to handle a stressful environment in a positive manner; Able to function independently and as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control best practice; Demonstrated knowledge in patient centered care approach and principles Ability to adapt to a multi-focused, fast-changing and stressful environment; Demonstrated commitment to continuing education within the past 2 years; Demonstrated commitment to organizational initiatives, participation in nursing council, unit committees and quality improvement projects; Demonstrated effective ability in: interpersonal relationships; oral and written communication skills; organization skills; prioritizing; problem solving; decision making; facilitating team work; conflict resolution; Demonstrated knowledge and ability to care for advanced airway patients on ventilators; Demonstrated knowledge and ability to care for patients with invasive hemodynamic monitoring (ie. Artline, Central Line); Understanding of surgical procedures and pre-operative care and immediate post-operative care; Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations; Ability to perform the essential duties of the position; Must have a satisfactory performance record; Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public; Demonstrated understanding of and, commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:



The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).
