Do you enjoy working in a dynamic department? Do you enjoy caring for and supporting families? The Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is hiring. We are looking to add more team members to our team. The Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit providing care to those born prematurely and/or with health issues. We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Physicians, Social Work, Dieticians and other allied health partners. As part of the Women and Children's Health Portfolio, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit staff will support and help provide care to their sister unit, Pediatrics. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit staff will provide support to the LDR and Mat/Child as necessary. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to follow and adhere to Alberta Health Services policies, procedures, goals and objectives. Ability to safeguard Alberta Health Services information as private and confidential. Assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to patient/client change in status. Demonstrated critical thinking skills and responses. Ability to perform duties as outlined on the Physical Demand Statement (PDS) for the position. Demonstrated teamwork and ability to work well with others in small groups, especially interdisciplinary teams. Knowledge of assessing and providing care for a newborn. Strong time management and prioritization skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the care team and patients/clients, especially in facilitating information transfer between the care team and parents. Preferred Qualifications:

2-3 years of acute care or relevant clinical care experience. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Basic computer skills. Experience/knowledge of lactation and the ability to assist/teach mothers to feed their babies. Proven technical and clinical skills pertinent to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nursing.
