UNIT PROFILE:
The Women\xe2\x80\x99s and Infants\xe2\x80\x99 Program delivers approx. 3200 babies /year. The Mother Baby Unit is a 21 bed unit where a Mother and her baby will continue their journey from Birthing. It is a Family Centered Unit where parents are encouraged to be involved with their babies care and room in at all times with the model of Zero Separation. We provide newborn care, feeding support and health teaching during their post partum time. On the unit we also care for Antenatal patients who have health risks or develop complications with their pregnancy and also post-op gynecology patients. A multi-disciplinary team work with our patients and their families to ease the transition from hospital to home.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a regulated health care professional who adheres to and models the Standards and Guidelines of the College of Nurses of Ontario; the SJHH mission, vision and values, policies and procedures; and applicable specialty standards. The RN provides patient/client-centered and evidence informed care to promote health and assess the need for the provision of care and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitation means in order to attain or maintain optimal patient/client function. The RN collaborates with the inter-professional team and assumes a leadership role in the delivering a full range of care and treatment to patient/clients including those with complex needs, high acuity and less predictable outcomes.
