Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) acts as an expert resource for the provision of a range of mental health assessment, consultation and treatment services for clients, families of clients and community partners. The RN provides services within the different programs of the Mental Health Treatment Service such as, but not limited to: psychiatry, injection clinic, First Episode Psychosis.

What we are looking for
Bachelor degree in nursing
Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Canadian Nurses Association certification in psychiatric nursing ( can be completed within the first year of employment).
A minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in mental health in community and or acute care setting;
Good knowledge of hospital psychiatric services and mental health and addictions community services;
Good knowledge of best practices in matters related to mental health and addictions, pharmacology treatments and risk assessment and the mental health law;
Excellent skills in education, coaching, mentoring clients and family or personal support network members as required and/or other care-givers about illness prevention and health maintenance strategies.
Capable of facilitating group sessions.
Capable of dispensing intramuscular injections and organizing an injection clinic.
Able to work in an autonomous way, with the support of a psychiatrist, when required and as per CNO standards;
Able to work with a multi-disciplinary team and in collaboration with community partners.
Possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and good interpersonal and communication skills;
Capable of flexibility and demonstrates strong adaptation skills;
Demonstrates good record keeping, following HGH approved documentation policies and procedures.
Possess a working knowledge of both official languages.
Must have a good attendance record.
Must have a positive attitude compliant with HGH's values.
Satisfactory review of the Human resources file.
